Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has further
whittled down his side ahead of the 2017 African
Cup of Nations qualification (Afcon) doubleheader
against Egypt by dropping 16 players from the
Nigeria Professional Premier League (NPFL).

Chan 2016 star, Chisom Chikatara was among
those dropped from the squad as only six players
out of initial 22 invited made the cut in a list
tweeted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
on Sunday evening.

The favoured ones are Chibuzor Okonkwo, Etebo
Oghenekaro, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ifeanyi Mathew,
Mathew Etim and Kalu Orji.

They will be joined by 18 foreign-based pros this
week for the crunch battle against the Pharaohs
of Egypt.

The first leg encounter will hold 
n Kaduna on
March 25, while the return leg is scheduled for
Alexandria four days later.

Egypt top Group G with a maximum six points
from two games while Nigeria are second with
four points, with only the group winners going
through.
