Police have arrested three suspects in
connection with an early morning explosion
at the Gombe Motor Park which reportedly
led to the death of eight people and left
about 34 people injured.
The spokesman for the National Emergency
Management Agency, Manzo Ezekiel, told
AFP his staff had confirmed five dead but
noted the toll could be higher.
According to the Gombe State Commissioner
of Police, Mr Kudu Nma, a vehicle with an
inscription “Yobe Line” was reported to have
brought the suspected bombers to the motor
park.
“A vehicle which was suspected to have
carried the bombers who came in with
Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) was
recovered.
“Unfortunately for them, they were caught
when they were about to run away,” Nma
said.
According to a report by the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN), the explosion had gone off
around 9.30 a.m. at the park at a time when
many passengers were at the park boarding
vehicles to various destinations.
