Ugwuanyi swears-in new President, Customary Court of Appeal.
A new President, Customary Court of Appeal has been sworn-in in Enugu State. He is Justice Judge C. Nnamani. Performing the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House Enugu yesterday, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi said that his appointment followed the recommendation and approval of the National Judicial Council in line with the rule guiding the process.
Governor Ugwuanyi recalled that Justice Judge Nnamani had served in capacity since last year and that his eventual emergence as the substantive president of the apex customary court came after he was nominated along with another judge.
He explained that the event was timely in order not to create a vacuum in Customary Court of Appeal in the state. The governor noted that the appointment of Justice Nnamani followed his track records worthy of emulation and thanked the members of the bar and bench for their massive turn-up at the event. Earlier, the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Innocent A, Umezulike said that the appointment of Justice Judge Chibeze Nnamani as the President, Customary Court of Appeal in the state was based o merit.
He advised the new substantive President not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in him but to discharge duties and responsibilities in line with the rules and the law without fear of favour. Justice Nnamani in his response said that he felt elevated, happy and humbled, noting that the trust and confidence reposed in him would not be betrayed.
He commended the members of the bar and bench for their support during the screening process, Governor Ugwuanyi for his Executive assistance, friends, well-wishers as well as family members for their encouragement.
