The Kaduna state director of the Department of State Services (DSS) has told the judicial commission of inquiry investigating the December 12-14, 2015 clashes between the Shiites and the Nigerian Army in Zaria that the ultimate objective of the group is the establishment of an Islamic state.

According to This Day, Mustapha Sani, alleged further that Islamic group does not recognise the sovereignty of Nigeria, adding that the group owes its allegiance to Iran from where they receive financial assistance and support.

He maintained that the sect has remained and will always remain a security threat to Nigeria, disclosing that during the clash between the group and the army, members of the Shiite group carried crude weapons such as cutlasses, sticks and similar locally designed swords, from records of their activities in Zaria and in Kaduna state as a whole.
