Imo state government builds new NYSC orientation camp.
The Imo State Government has built a new permanent orientation camp for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in order to properly cater for the welfare and security of corps members posted to the state.
The newly built orientation camp located at Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, has been officially handed over to the state chapter of the National Youth Service Corps.
The State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Sports and Youths Development, Mr Chidi Ibe, at the handing over ceremony.
He said that the delivery of this project is in fulfillment of the promise made by the Governor few months ago to build a new orientation camp for the corps members, having noted the dilapidation, rot and insecurity encountered in the previous camp.
He urged the officials of the NYSC as well the corps members to maintain the newly built camp and also take advantage of the one year service to the nation to explore Imo State and contribute their own quota to the development of the state.
In his remarks, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Isaac Fasanu, expressed gratitude to the Imo State government for building a befitting NYSC orientation camp with all basic amenities and adequate security.
He said that this would go a long way to help the corps members concentrate on their mission in camp without fear of kidnap, loss of life or property, or any discomfort.
He assured the government that the corp members, staff and officials will take good care of the camp, and the facilities will be well maintained.
Some of the Corps members who spoke at the event also commended the efforts of the state government in providing the facility.
