Diego Costa handed additional one-match ban.
The player was found culpable, following an alleged ‘gesture’ he made to Everton supporters during an FA Cup tie. A statement from the FA reads:
“Diego Costa has been charged in relation to Chelsea’s FA Cup Sixth Round fixture against Everton on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
“It is alleged his behaviour, after being shown a second yellow card in the game, amounted to improper conduct. “He has until 6pm on March 17, 2016 to respond to the charge.
“Meanwhile, the Chelsea striker has until Wednesday (March 16, 2016) to provide his observations to The FA in relation to an alleged gesture he made towards Everton supporters while leaving the pitch at half-time.”
The Spaniard was shown a red card six minutes from time in their game against Everton. However, Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has addressed reports calling Chelsea striker Diego Costa an “Idiot” following an alleged biting incident in a FA cup tie.
According to Hiddink, it is unfair to call the Spanish international an “idiot” who was sent off for appearing to bite Everton’s Gareth Barry on Saturday, March 12. Hiddink feels his player gets treated unfairly.
