Yesterday on Facebook, users fished out a Nigerian man named Nura Lawal who celebrated the recent inferno at the Sabon Gari market in Kano, which gutted over 3,000 shops and led to deaths of many. To Lawal, it called for celebration, an opportunity to run Christians and ‘Biafrans’ out of the northern state, and he also asked that the many churches in Sabon Gari, Kano, be burnt.

As expected, this has drawn reactions from Nigerians on social media, many of whom have asked that he gets arrested as his post is inciting.

Since his comments went viral, Nura Lawal has not return to defend of address his disturbing opinions, but this is not the first time hate posts have been shared on social media. Last May Twitter user @Mcvaaey‘s account was shutdown following reports of his inciting statements during the presidential elections. He bluntly called for an ethnic cleansing and total wipe out of the Igbo. Though his account got shutdown, like Nura Lawal, he was never arrested.
