Eleven former members of the Burkinabe
Presidential Guard were arrested after
they raided an arms depot.
The 11 suspects arrested were allegedly
involvement in a coup attempt last year.
Burkinabe military officials stated that the police
were still looking for 15 other soldiers involved in
the raid. The men did not steal any ammunition,
however they were able to carry away several
kalashnikov rifles and antitank rocket grenade
launchers.
Members of the Presidential Guard, under the
command of General Gilbert Diendere, mounted a
putsch on September 17, 2015. However, the
coup attempt was thwarted by street protesters
