A woman who boarded a cab in Agboju
area of Lagos State has lamented how
she was defrauded of her N1.2 million
through charms used by the fraudsters.
The woman, Adebisi Jinadu, told
News men at FESTAC that she boarded
a cab on Saturday morning from Agboju
area on her way to Idumota market where
she wanted to buy gold jewelry for sale in
her new shop.
Jinadu said three people were in the car
when she boarded it, only for another
person to join at Mile 2. She said on the
way, the driver pretended as if the vehicle
had developed fault near Alafia bus stop.
She said the driver begged other
passengers to alight and give the vehicle
a push and they complied. The victim said
in the process, the driver saw something
he perceived to be unusual in the vehicle.
According to her, the driver asked who
owned the carton in the boot of the
vehicle filled with dollars.
The passenger sitting in the front
passenger seat said he was the owner.
He inquired where and how he got the
dollars which is over $100,000.
The victim who claimed to be a widow
said the passenger explained that it was
a long story. “But one thing led to another
the driver talked to me about joining in
doing the business of sharing the money
equally. I never knew how I agreed. It
was not ordinary. I was charmed.
This is
something I would never agree to do in
my life.
“The man said he wanted to go to
somewhere in Lamgbasa area, after Ajah
where he had other money. In a house at
Lamgbasa, he went to the backyard and
came back with a bucket. He put some
paper inside and later brought them out
and we saw ten $100 bills. He said he
needed money to wash the remaining
dollars. He said if they washed all the
money it would amount to $10million.”
