A man, Olubusayo Sunday, has committed suicide
after beheading his wife and their 3-year-old
daughter.
The incident occured on Wednesday, January 14,
at Onigbedu town, in Ewekoro LGA of Ogun state.
A knife and a cutlass, stained with blood,
suspected to have been used by Olubusayo to
behead his family, were recovered from the scene.
A statement released by the police spokesperson
in the state, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that
none of the neighbours of the deceased couple
nor any member of their family could tell the
police what led to the tragic incident.
Adejobi said the last statement Olubusayo made
before he died in the presence of the police
detectives suggested that there was a quarrel
between him and his wife.
He said: “After he had beheaded the wife and
daughter, Olubusayo stabbed himself, set himself
ablaze and wanted to jump inside a well but was
prevented by neighbours. He later died in the
hospital of fatal injuries he had inflicted on
himself.”
He added that the commissioner of police,
Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered investigation into
the tragic incident.
