Just a few weeks after welcoming a new life into
the world, Kelly Rowland is now mourning the
death of someone extremely close to her.
The singer has sadly announced via statement
today the passing of her mother, Doris Rowland
Garrison, at the age of 66.
"It is with deep sadness that I announce the
passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison,"
said the former Destiny's Child member, who
gave birth to her first child , a boy, in early
November.
"She was an incredible soul who made countless
sacrifices so that I could become the woman –
and now mother – I am today," Rowland added.
"We humbly appreciate all the love and support
and only ask for privacy during this difficult
time."
Garrison was set to turn 67 years old on
Saturday.
Rowland and husband Tim Weatherspoon
became the proud parents of Titan Jewell on
November 4.
A week later, Rowland released a new single
dedicated to her son, titled "Mommy's Little
Baby.”
