Detectives of Ekiti State Police Command have
arrested five suspects over the rape of a 14-year
old girl at Ikole-Ekiti on November 21.
The suspects are Olaoluwa Gbenga, 20; Dada
Samson, 18; Saliu kazeem, 19; Olaoluwa Lekan,
20 and Aribaloye Lekan, 20.
According to a statement by the Police Public
Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, the rape took
place arround 2 p.m. on the fateful day.
“Investigation revealed that the suspects lured
the victim to one of them, Dada Samson, where
they took their turn to defile her.
“The victim’s scream attracted neighbors to the
room where the suspects were caught in the
acts. Detectives were contacted immediately and
the suspects were arrested.
“The victim was taken to the hospital and the
result of medical examiner confirmed the
incident. Suspects would be arraigned in court
as soon as investigation is complete,” the
statement added.
The command also said it has begun
investigation into the murder of one Sylvester
Godwin.
The incident happened on December 4, at Oko
Oba Camp, Erinjiyan Road, Ilawe-Ekiti, at about 9
a.m. when one Johnson Esharefa, 45, left three
children including the deceased with a loaded
dane gun unattended to.
“One of the children, allegedly fiddling with the
gun, shot the victim to death. The murder
weapon has been recovered while four suspects,
including, Johnson Esharefa, are now in custody
undergoing interrogation,” the statement added.
