Two police officers on patrol were on Friday
ambushed and killed by unknown gunmen
along Wamba road in Akwanga local
government area of Nasarawa state.
The spokesperson of the state police
command, Ugochukwu Theodore, who
confirmed the incident said the slain officers
were ambushed while on lawful duty.
Mr. Theodore said his command has
commenced investigation into the incidence.
He said they were attacked around Buku
Village near Akwanga Local Government Area,
LGA, of the state and that the attack took
place this morning around 9am.
“Police officers from our command in
Akwanga who were on patrol along Wamba
road were ambushed by unknown gunmen
and two were killed,” Mr. Theodore said.
“Investigation has commenced to discover
what actually transpired.
Perpetrators of the
act would never go unpunished.”
He explained that the officers were about six
in the patrol van and apart from the two
killed, one was also injured and currently
receiving treatment at the hospital.
He, therefore, called on the people of the state
to remain calm and report any suspicious
person movement or activities to the law
enforcement agencies for prompt action.
