President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that
Nigeria is winning the war against insurgent
elements in the country.
Jonathan, who was speaking at the opening of a
meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International
Investment Council (HIIC) holding in London, UK,
said Nigerian troops are forcing the terrorists to
beat a retreat.
Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President
on Media & Publicity quoted Jonathan as saying,
“We are improving on security. For about a week
now there have been no reports of Boko Haram
seizing more territory. Rather, we are steadily
pushing them back.
“The impression being created by sections of the
media that the situation is worsening is not true.
I can assure you that it will never get worse,”
Jonathan reportedly told the council members led
by Baroness Lynda Chalker.
He accused a section of the media of churning
out falsehood, creating the impression that the
security situation is worsening.
Jonathan gave his reasons for seeking another
term in power saying it is to deepen
his developmental policies and pilot them to the
point of irreversibility.
