For so long the governor and the people of IMO State have been clamouring for the completion of this road but to no avail.now they've promised to do something by 2015.which after they must have been elected back to office abi. Diaris God oh .
An early 2015 completion date has been projected
for the 35 Kilometer stretch road which was
awarded out in 2009 for 23 billion naira.
This 35 kilometers stretch Elele- Owerri road
connects Imo State to the south-South region
through Rivers and Bayelsa states.
The deplorable state of the road bellied the fact
that it had been scheduled for a makeover about
5years ago at a cost of 23.5billion naira.
However, the makeover seems to have only taken
place on office papers as motorists consider it a
death trap.
However, it appears to be underway for motorists
and indigenes as the contractor handling the
road, Mohammed El- Edadaros promised to get
back to work after the rainy season and promised
completion of the road before the end of the first
quarter of 2015.
This, he told a delegate from the Lower Federal
House of Assembly who came on a scheduled
visit led by the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha.
Honourable Ihedioha disclosed that the Federal
government is keen on delivering the road in early
2015 and in order to fast track the completion of
the road, the House of Representatives will
appropriate more funds in the 2015 budget to
enable the contractor complete the job in due
time.
