Finally, we seem to have discovered what
President Goodluck Jonathan and his Special
Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, have in
common.
Apparently, they both have childhood stories that
touch the heart.
On 18 September, 2010, after having served as
President for four months, Goodluck Jonathan’s
Declaration Speech stated in part, “I was not born
rich, and in my youth, I never imagined that I
would be where I am today. In my early days in
school, I had no shoes, no school bags. I carried
my books in my hands but never despaired; no
car to take me to school but I never despaired.”
To say people were inspired would be the
understatement of the century, as the ‘no shoes’
tale made several Nigerians empathize with the
President……and the rest is history.
Fast forward to 2014, Reno Omokri, the
President’s Internet mouthpiece and pastor of ‘the
Mind of Christ Christian Centre’ in California and
Abuja, has a somewhat similar inspirational story.
In an interview with Gospel star, Evang. Cherisse
Stephens on Atlanta Live, Omokri says “he walked
about 22 miles to church as a 6-year old.”
