Former Premier League referee, Graham Poll,
has suggested that Stoke City’s Victor Moses
should be given a retrospective ban for
simulation against Swansea City.
Moses appeared to dive in the box under little
pressure to win a penalty for his side against
the Swans in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
It was an important action, which gave the
Potters a route back into the match, which
they eventually went on to win 2-1, but Poll
believes the Nigerian should be banned from
playing again for Stoke’s upcoming games.
“(Michael) Oliver (the referee) suffered a
momentary lapse and got it completely wrong
in the first half when he awarded a penalty
for what was clearly a dive by Stoke forward
Victor Moses,” he wrote in the Daily Mail.
“Although Swansea defender Angel Rangel
was running alongside Moses as he ran into
the area there was little or no contact. In
cases like this it should be possible for
retrospective action to be taken against Moses
for blatant simulation.”
Stoke have moved up into the top half of the
table with their victory, but penalty decisions
have dominated the headlines since the
match.
