The city of Owerri was brought to a standstill over the weekend as the 2016 Edition of Mr and Miss Imo State Pageant took centre stage at a very colourful even‎t.

Several high profile Imolites and students put up appearance at the coronation and award night that recorded impressive turnout.

Amgbaobi Jahdi who represent Mr Mbaitoli emerged Mr Imo State Nigeria 2016 while Okonkwo Jecinta who represented Miss Oru West was crowned Miss Imo State Nigeria 2016.

Popular pageant producer and CEO Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja, Hon. Ejiro Okphiwo ‎ and United Nation youth Ambassador and Manager Miss United Nation pageant, Amb Utchay Odims were part of the high profile judges.

Other winners of the night ‎for female category were; Miss Nwangele - Chris Events Model of the year 2016 , Miss Orlu - Miss Imo State Queen Nigeria Culture, Miss Owerri Municipal - Outstanding Imo State Queen 2016, Miss Onuimo - Miss Imo State Queen Nigeria Top Model and Miss Ikeduru - Miss Imo State Queen Nigeria Tourism.

Said Gutseriev, 28 and Khadija Uzhakhovs, 20 got married in a lavish celebration this past weekend that reportedly cost $1 billion.

The groom’s billionaire father Mikhail Gutseriev, 58 spared no expense for the 600 guest wedding in Moscow, Russia’s capital and biggest city.

Mikhail is a self-made billionaire from oil and real estate, and the groom Said is one of his two children. He’s the 16th richest person in Russia, and 205th in the world, according to Forbes.

The groom is Harrow and Oxford educated and the bride is currently in school to be a dentist.

Daily Mail reports that it took 4 years to find the groom an ideal bride, who had to be a virgin and low-key. She doesn’t have an Instagram account, and her other social media doesn’t have many photos.

But in Russia there has been something of a backlash against the lavish ceremony – following a report by Russian Tatler that the bride from an ‘ordinary’ family was chosen after a lengthy search for a woman to fit ‘all the strict demands, to be beautiful, a virgin, shy and not public’, meaning not seeking the limelight.

‘The quest for the ideal bride for Said Gutseriyev went for long four years,’ said Tatler, explaining the conditions that had to be met.

This sparked a heated online debate, with comments apparently from female readers saying: ‘So she is 19 and she is a virgin? What village did she come from?’ and ‘A virgin at 19? And it took them just four years to find her? That was quick.’

‘Khadizha is a future dentist. Her page in VK (a social media site) has no personal pictures, but instead has several images of how to do local anaesthetics,’ reported Tatler.

Now for the wedding – the bride wore a couture dress from Elie Saab and Daily Mail states it’s rumoured to have cost $1 million.

Solange Knowles exchanged vows
with Alan Ferguson in New Orleans, as the 28-
year old artist and her 51-year old fiance were
joined in The Big Easy by a close-knit group of
family and friends to celebrate their love.

Attendees included Jay-Z, Tina Knowles and
Beyonce , the latter two of whom were included
in Solange's wedding party and posed with the

According to various news outlets, the couple
rode white bicycles to their wedding venue at
Holy Trinity Church in the Bywater area of New
Orleans, with numerous residents congratulating
them along the way.

Over the summer, Solange gushed about her
impending wedding location via an Instagram
post.

"Thank you nola for giving me so many
wonderful, rich, and endless days of joy," she
wrote. "For giving my son one of the best
summer experiences. For the night I danced until
8 am in a place filled with nothing but love. I fall
in love with you more and more every day. You
are magic. I am grateful."

Knowles was previously married to her 10-year-
old son Julez's father, Daniel Smith, in February
2004, later confirming their split in 2007.
